Eligibility sequence

Salesperson applicants apply in MiPLUS first. LARA determines eligibility and transmits authorization to PSI, which then issues the eligibility communication and Candidate ID. Registration and scheduling with PSI only happen after that authorization.

Exam structure

The current exam is 115 scored questions/points over 180 minutes, drawing on national real estate principles and Michigan laws and rules. The content is not presented here as two separately passed portions, since the current PSI bulletin does not expressly require separate passing results for a national section and a state section.

Scoring

The passing standard is 70%, corresponding to a raw passing score of 80. Passing candidates receive a PASS result rather than a numeric score; candidates who do not pass receive section-level information on their score report.

Experimental items

The exam may include a small number of unscored experimental questions under the current bulletin. These items count against your examination time even though they are not scored.

After the exam

Passing does not issue the license by itself. The result posts to the MiPLUS workflow, and you still need to enter your employing broker's license number and receive broker approval before the license is issued. The passing result remains valid for one year from passing.
