The Michigan salesperson path, start to finish
- Confirm baseline qualifications — at least 18 years old, review the good-moral-character question, supply an SSN or the current applicable affidavit, and a non-Michigan resident supplies the current Consent to Service of Process.
- Complete 40 hours of approved education — including at least 4 hours of civil-rights law and equal opportunity in housing, completed within 36 months before the initial application.
- Submit the MiPLUS application — upload the course-completion certificate and pay the current $88 application and three-year license fee.
- Wait for LARA review and exam authorization — the PSI eligibility communication and Candidate ID arrive after approval to test.
- Register for and take the PSI exam — current fee $79 per registration, at a test center or via remote proctoring.
- Pass the exam — passing does not by itself issue the license; the result posts to the licensing workflow.
- Add the employing broker — enter the broker's 10-digit license number through MiPLUS Modification after passing.
- License issuance — issued only after the employing broker approves the relationship.
- Maintain the license — follow your individual expiration date and complete CE before renewal.

The MiPLUS application is valid for one year from payment
If you don't move through exam authorization and testing within that window, you may need to reapply.
A passing exam result is valid for one year from passing
Delaying broker entry and approval past that window can put your passing result at risk.
No license until the broker approves
Passing the exam does not issue the license. Issuance happens only after your employing broker approves the sponsorship request in MiPLUS.
