1. Completing the 40-hour course

Timing depends on your school's schedule and delivery format. See the course guide.

2–3. Collecting materials and submitting MiPLUS

Gather your course-completion certificate and any other applicable documents, then submit the MiPLUS application and pay the $88 fee.

4. LARA review

LARA reviews the application before authorizing PSI testing. A fixed real-estate-specific review time is not published here; confirm current processing expectations directly with LARA or MiPLUS if you are working against a deadline.

5. Receiving the Candidate ID and eligibility

Once approved, the PSI eligibility communication and Candidate ID arrive, opening the door to scheduling.

6–7. PSI scheduling and examination

Availability depends on test-center or remote-proctoring capacity. See exam prep for study areas.

8–9. Entering the employing broker and broker approval

After passing, enter the broker's license number through Modification. Approval is not guaranteed to happen the same day; timing depends on the broker.

10. License issuance

Issuance follows broker approval, with electronic notice to the applicant.

Validity windows to plan around

Education: 36 months
Your course-completion certificate is valid for 36 months before the initial application.
Initial MiPLUS application: 1 year from payment
Move through authorization and testing within a year of paying the application fee.
Passing exam result: 1 year from passing
Complete broker entry and approval within a year of passing to keep the result valid.
