Each participant produces a different record. Their work is connected, but none of these records substitutes for NJREC approval.

Documents and statuses are not interchangeable
Course completion shows the education prerequisite was completed. PSI eligibility issuance is the time-limited record used to schedule the exam. A PSI examination result shows an exam outcome. Fingerprint completion shows the required capture process was completed. Broker application submission shows the Broker of Record submitted the application. Only an NJREC-approved, issued license permits licensed activity.
The school reports course completion electronically to PSI. PSI eligibility expires one year to the day from issuance. Confirm the issuance and expiration dates in the current PSI record; do not assume the issuance date is identical to the final class date.

The Order of Operations
New Jersey licensing follows a strict sequence; passing the exam alone does not authorize practice.
- Confirm age, education, and character eligibility.
- Complete 75 hours at a New Jersey licensed real estate school.
- The school reports course completion electronically to PSI.
- Pass the current salesperson exam before the eligibility record expires.
- Complete the current IDEMIA Live Scan fingerprint process.
- Select a sponsoring broker; the Broker of Record files the original application and current fee.
- Wait for NJREC review and approval before performing licensed activity.

What "approval" actually means
Three separate events are often confused: passing the PSI exam, completing fingerprints, and the broker filing your application. None of these individually make you licensed. NJREC review and formal approval is the event that authorizes practice, and it happens after all three are complete.
