The PSI Virginia salesperson exam
PSI Services is the DPOR-contracted, ARELLO-accredited exam vendor for Virginia real estate licensing.
Who administers the exam
DPOR contracts with PSI Services to administer the Virginia salesperson examination. PSI's exams are accredited by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO), which is meant to ensure both national principles and state-specific content are validly tested. Use the current PSI Virginia portal to verify available delivery options before scheduling.
Exam structure
Standard applicants take National and Virginia portions, and the portions are scored independently. The current exam fee is $60. Exact question counts, time limits, and passing thresholds are omitted because the current PSI Candidate Information Bulletin was not reliably retrieved.
Registering for the exam
You become eligible to register once your 60-hour course completion has been reported to PSI. Registration is typically handled online through PSI's candidate portal; reciprocity applicants registering to take only the state portion may have different registration channels — see the reciprocity guide.
Scoring and retakes
The current Virginia Salesperson application must be received within one year of the initial examination date. Passing the exam does not create a license. Consult PSI directly for current retake administration without relying on an unsupported exact matrix.
Fingerprints and the exam day
Some candidates complete fingerprinting immediately after passing the exam at a participating PSI test center, or separately via Fieldprint Virginia. See requirements for background-check timing considerations.
