60-hour Basic Principles course
How long this takes depends on whether you choose a self-paced online course or a scheduled in-person class, and how much time you can dedicate per week.
PSI exam scheduling and results
After completing the course, you register with PSI and schedule a test date. Results timing and any retake waiting periods should be verified directly with PSI.
30-hour Course for New Affiliates
Completed before license issuance, this course adds additional time before your license can be issued. Course length and provider scheduling affect how quickly you finish it.
Fingerprinting and background check
Scheduling a fingerprint appointment and waiting for results processing adds time. Fingerprint clearances are generally time-limited, so avoid completing this step too far in advance of your application.
Principal broker affiliation and issuance
Finding and finalizing an affiliation with a principal broker can happen in parallel with earlier steps, but the license cannot be issued as active until affiliation and E&O coverage are in place.
