Pearson VUE and Clarus eligibility
Apply for Salesperson exam eligibility through Clarus; Pearson VUE reviews the submitted eligibility documents, issues authorization, schedules the required portions, and provides score reports. PALS is used later for the post-exam license application.

| National | $52 | 80 scored questions; 5–10 additional pretest questions | 150 minutes | Scaled score 75 |
| PA State-specific | $49 | 40 scored questions; 5–10 additional pretest questions | 60 minutes | Scaled score 75 |

A scaled score is not a raw percentage of questions answered correctly.
Retakes and validity
Only the failed portion is retaken; a passed portion cannot be retaken during the authorization period. Authorization generally lasts five years from the earliest required course. Passing results generally remain valid three years. When portions are passed on different dates, the license-application clock begins with the first passed portion.
After passing
Passing does not itself create a license. It allows the applicant to move into the PALS license-application stage.
